Countdown to Face-Off K-Wings at IceMen
December 1, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Will the force be with the Kalamazoo Wings or the Evansville IceMen, as the teams square off during Star Wars night at the Ford Center. The K-Wings have won both previous meetings this season against the IceMen, including a 3-2 decision in their lone appearance at the Ford Center back on October 26th.
A tenth of a second away from victory, the K-Wings started a three-game road swing last night by squandering a two-goal third period lead en route to a 3-2 overtime loss to the Toledo Walleye. Despite the loss, the K-Wings earned a point, which ties them with the Fort Wayne Komets for third place in the division.
Losing 6-1 last night at the U.S. Bank Arena to the Cincinnati Cyclones, Evansville returns home to start a brief two-game home stand. The IceMen, who have lost two straight, are 1-5-0-0 in their last six games. On the season, Evansville has struggled at home earning a record of 2-8-0-0 at the Ford Center.

Flip the Calendar
Kalamazoo will be happy that the calendar reads December after they finished November with a record of 4-7-1-0, their worst month since they went 4-6-1-0 back in November of 2010. During that season, K-Wings would go on to represent the Eastern Conference in the Kelly Cup Finals.
Good After Two
Last night marked the first time this season that the K-Wings lead after the second period and didn't win. Kalamazoo is now 6-0-1-0 when leading heading into the third period.
