Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - The Idaho Steelheads scored four times in just over six minutes midway through the third period, turning a tight game into a romp as the Steelheads rolled past Colorado, 7-1, at CenturyLink Arena.

Idaho (14-5-2) scored six straight goals over the game's final 27 minutes to pull away from a 1-1 tie midway thorugh the second period.

The Steelheads struck first on the power play at the 6:13 mark of the first period as Kael Mouillierat went top shelf from just inside the right-hand circle to make it 1-0. The goal was the "Teddy Bear Toss" goal, as the 3,860 fans showered the CenturyLink Arena ice with stuffed animals to be donated to the Toys for Tots campaign. The goal was Mouillierat's team-leading 14th of the season. Colorado evened things up at the 12:48 mark on a Cody Sol wrist shot through traffic as the score was even at one goal apiece after one period.

The game remained all square until the midway point of the second period. Colorado's Collin Bowman was given a five-minute major penalty, putting Idaho on a major power play. Just seconds before the major expired, Idaho finally cashed in as David deKastrozza knocked home a rebound off a Matt Case shot at 13:30 of the second, giving Idaho a 2-1 lead.

That goal signaled a major momentum swing in the game as Idaho found the net again just over a minute later when Jace Coyle's shot from the right point deflected off a Colorado stick and past Tyler Plante at 14:50 to make it 3-1 Steelheads after two.

Idaho maintained that lead through seven minutes in the third period before pouring it on. First, on the power play, deKastrozza found himself alone in the right-hand circle and whistled a shot over Plante's shoulder to make it 4-1. Assists on the play went to Coyle and goaltender Tyler Beskorowany on deKastrozza's second goal of the night and third of the season. Less than two minutes later, Adrian Foster re-directed Matt Case's shot past Plante to up the lead to 5-1 and, less than two minutes after that, Mathieu Tousignant finished a two-on-one rush with his first goal of the season under Plante's leg pad. Following a goaltender change, Austin Fyten knocked home a loose puck to finish a goal-mouth scramble at 13:53 - Idaho's fourth goal in a span of 6:12 - to finish the scoring and give Idaho a 7-1 margin.

Coyle finished the game with his first professional three-point night with a goal and two assists. Six other Steelheads registered two points - deKastrozza (2 goals), Foster (goal, assist), Fyten (goal, assist), Austin Smith (2 assists), Case (2 assists), and Ben Ondrus (2 assists).

Idaho's power play was 3-4 on the night while the Steelhead penalty-kill was a perfect 5-for-5 against Colorado's potent power play. In the three-game set, Idaho's penalty-killing unit denied 15 of 16 Eagle power-play chances.

Tyler Beskorowany was solid in net, picking up his fifth win of the season by stopping 30 of 31 shots. Plante took the loss, giving up six goals on 26 shots.

Idaho is on the road next weekend with games at Las Vegas (Friday) and Ontario (Saturday, Sunday).

The Steelheads return home on Wednesday, December 12, to host the Alaska Aces. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.8497 or by going online at www.idahosteelheads.com.
