Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that C Joe Muich has been named the 2008 Samuel Plumeri, Sr. Community Service Award Winner and that IF Kevin Russo was named the Hamilton Jewelers Fan Favorite Award Winner. They were presented the awards in an on-field ceremony prior to the game against Connecticut on Sunday evening at Mercer County Waterfront Park.
Muich has been an active participant in the Thunder's Grand Slam We Care Foundation activities. He helped coach at Thunder youth clinics and camps and has been a regular volunteer for community outreach opportunities around the ballpark and greater Trenton community. On the field, Muich has appeared in 44 games for the Thunder and is batting .220.
"Joe has done all we asked of the players this year - he's made appearances in the community, coached at our youth clinics, caught first pitches before games and signed as many autographs as anyone," said Thunder Director of Public Relations Bill Cook.
Muich joins Brad Tweedlie (1999), Marty McLeary (2000), Josh Garrett (2001), Mike Griffin (2002), Brian Myrow (2003), Jason Grove (2004), Ben Julianel (2005), Jason Brown (2006) and Jason Jones (2007) as winners of the Sam Plumeri Sr. Community Service Award.

"We are happy to have them as part of the Thunder family and it's been our privilege to have them as part of our organization. We are lucky to have partners like Hamilton Jewelers to share in this award."
