Trenton (85-54) cut the lead to 4-3 in the third inning. With two outs, Left fielder Colin Curtis drilled a three-run home run off of Connecticut Starting pitcher Dave McKae. The home run was his 10th of the season, and he joins teammate Edwar Gonzalez as the only Thunder players with 10-plus home runs this season.
Connecticut tacked on a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly RBI by Left fielder Olmo Rosario. The Defenders scored five runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Center fielder Carlos Sosa connected on an RBI double, and Designated hitter Eddy Martinez-Esteve had an RBI single to plate the first two runs of the inning. Later in the frame, Second baseman Dave Maroul had an RBI double, and Shortstop Kyle Haines produced a two-run single off Trenton Reliever Eric Wordekemper. Maroul capped off the scoring with an RBI double in the ninth.
