Harrisburg Senators News Release
HARRISBURG - The Harrisburg Senators today announced their schedule and home game times for the 2009 Eastern League season. The schedule will again include 71 home games at Commerce Bank Park and 71 road games. Harrisburg will open the season with a six-game road trip April 9-15 with three games at Reading (Phillies), including the season opener on April 9, and three games at Trenton (Yankees). The 2009 home opener is scheduled for Thursday, April 16 against the Reading Phillies. This is the latest date the Senators have opened at home in any of their previous 23 seasons.
The standard game times are changing for the 2009 season with all Monday through Saturday home games beginning at 7:00pm and Sunday games beginning at 2:00pm. There are six exceptions to the standard times as the Senators will play three "School Kids Day" games at 10:30am and three noon weekday games. The three 10:30am games are Wednesday, April 22 vs. Akron (Indians); Wednesday, May 13 vs. Altoona (Pirates) and Thursday, June 4 vs. New Hampshire (Blue Jays). The three weekday noon games are Monday, June 29 vs. Erie (Tigers); Monday, July 13 vs. Reading (Phillies) and Thursday, August 20 vs. Altoona (Pirates).
Outside of April, the 2009 schedule is very balanced. The Sens play seven home games in April followed by 17 in May, 14 in June, 15 in July, and finish the season with 18 in August/September. The longest homestand of the season is seven games, which happens six different times during the season. The longest time away from Commerce Bank Park is eight days, which happens twice.
The Senators schedule includes being home on Memorial Day weekend for four games vs. Bowie and a home game on Saturday, July 4th vs. Akron. The most common opponent at Commerce Bank Park will be the Erie SeaWolves who the Senators will play 15 times at home in 2009. Next on the list is the Reading Phillies, who the Sens will play 11 times at Commerce Bank Park in 2009. In 2008 the Senators play the Southern Division 87 times and the Northern Division 55 times. They have 88 games against American League opponents and 54 games against National League opponents.
The most common opponents in 2009 are the Reading Phillies (25), then Erie (22), followed by Bowie (18) and then Trenton (16). They play division rivals Akron 12 times and Altoona just 10 times in 2009.
