A game that saw five lead changes ended in a 9-8 loss for the Thunder to the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

The loss ended a nine-game winning streak for the Thunder (25-17) against the Sea Dogs (13-29).

With the Thunder trailing, 6-5, Chris Gittens led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a game-tying solo home run to right field off Darwinzon Hernandez. Kyle Holder followed with a double two batters later, and after Brian Ellington (1-0) entered to pitch for Portland, Brandon Wagner delivered a go-ahead RBI-single to right. The Thunder added an insurance run in the eighth as Mandy Alvarez scored on a throwing error.

But with an 8-6 lead in the ninth, Thunder reliever Matt Wivinis (0-1) encountered trouble, hitting Bobby Dalbec with a pitch before allowing an RBI-double to Josh Tobias. After a strikeout, Cody Asche singled to plate the tying run, and Jhon Nunez put Portland in front, 9-8, with a double to left field.

Holder drew a one-out walk from Jordan Weems in the bottom of the ninth to put the tying run aboard, but a flyout and a fielder's choice ended the game.

The Thunder had carried two separate three-run leads, 3-0 and 4-1, in the early innings, but saw the Sea Dogs tie the score at 4-4 in the fourth inning on four hits and an RBI-groundout.

Jorge Saez worked a bases-loaded walk to force home the go-ahead run in the fifth to put the Thunder back on top, 5-4, but Portland gained its first lead in the seventh, as Dalbec hit a game-tying home run and Tate Matheny provided a go-ahead sacrifice fly. Your Thunder continue their homestand on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against the Sea Dogs. RHP Trevor Stephan (0-2, 8.27) will start for the Thunder, and LHP Dedgar Jimenez (1-2, 4.15) will go for Portland. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
