Ronald Pena retired the only batter he faced on a groundball. He came on with two outs in the sixth in relief of Braymer.

Trevor Rosenthal pitched one inning plus three batters in his fifth rehab appearance with the Senators. He allowed a hit, two walks and two runs.

Taylor Guilbeau came on with no outs and a runner on second in the eighth inning and retired all three batters he faced including two via the strikeout.

The Senators have dropped the first game of a series for the third time this season and for the second straight series.

With their loss, the Senators have lost three consecutive games for the second time this season.
