
Thunder Fall In Brackman's Debut

Trenton, NJ- New Hampshire spoiled Andrew Brackman's Double-A debut, taking the first game of the three-game series 6-2 on Friday night at Waterfront Park. Brandon Laird launched a home run (19) for one of seven hits on the night for Trenton in the loss. Trenton (44-28) and New Hampshire (45-29) are now tied for first place in the EL Eastern Division.
New Hampshire scored in the first three innings, including a solo home run from Danny Perales in the second. In the fifth inning, Brackman loaded the bases with one out and struck out David Cooper and Jonathan Diaz to end the threat.
On the night, Brackman (0-1) gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits, walked one and struck out five.
Trenton picked up a run in the second inning off RHP Zach Stewart (5-2), as Brandon Laird belted a solo home run over the left field wall. It was Laird's third home run in the last two days. With one out in the fourth inning, Laird walked before Matt Cusick and Marcos Vechionacci each hit singles to load the bases. Laird scored on a ground ball hit by Edwar Gonzalez, and the Thunder cut New Hampshire lead to 3-2 at the end of four innings.
Kevin Whelan came on to pitched the top of the seventh inning, and gave up a lead-off walk to Manny Mayorson, who stole his second base of the game and came around to score on an RBI single by Eric Thames to put New Hampshire ahead 4-2.
New Hampshire tacked on two more runs in the top of the ninth inning off Josh Schmidt, as Thames and Shawn Bowman drove in a run each on back-to-back hits. Thames finished the night going 4-for-5 with three RBI.
Trenton and New Hampshire continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. The Thunder will start RHP David Phelps (5-0, 2.19) while the Fisher Cats start RHP B.J. LaMura (1-1, 4.11) Tickets are available by contacting the front office at 609-394-3300 or online at www.trentonthunder .
