TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Erie SeaWovles will meet in the opener of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels went 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10 runners on base in a 3-2 loss in the series finale against the Akron Aeros.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in the finale of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision in his last start against 6/19...Allowed two runs on six hits in six innings...Struck out one batter and walked two...Retired 11 of the first 12 batters that he faced and faced the minimum through the first four innings...Gave up two runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning...Recorded eight ground outs and six fly outs...Threw 95 pitches, 61 strikes...Threw 45 pitches over the first four innings...Threw 50 pitches combined in the fifth and sixth innings...Has allowed two runs or less in 11 of his 14 starts...Has gone six innings or more in nine of his 14 starts including each of his last five...Is 8-1 when going six innings or more...Ranks fourth among starters in the Eastern League in fewest base runners per nine innings at 10.38 (98/85.0 IP) and is fourth overall in WHIP (1.08)...Is fifth in the Eastern League, is fifth in innings pitched (85.0), is seventh in ERA (3.07), and is tied for eighth in strike outs (64).

ALL DRIED UP: The Flying Squirrels fell to a season-low seven games under .500 with yesterday's loss at Akron...The club has lost seven of its last eight games and is one of three teams in the Eastern League with 40 losses...Over the previous two seasons, the lowest Richmond manager Andy Skeels has been under .500 was four games...The 2008 Augusta GreenJackets were 11-15 before finishing the season 88-50.

GETTING SERIE-OUS: Richmond is 1-9-2 over its last 12 series from 5/13-6/24...The lone series win for the Flying Squirrels over that stretch came against New Britain 6/8-6/10 when the club took two of three games...Prior to the skid, Richmond had gone 6-1-1 over its previous eight series spanning from 4/15-5/2.

PEN-NY SAVERS: Flying Squirrels starters have gone six innings or more in each of the last seven contests...The longest streak of six innings or more from the starting pitchers had been three games 6/8-6/10...Over the last seven games, Flying Squirrels' starters have allowed 19 runs, 14 earned, on 45 hits in 46 innings while striking 25 and walking 13 (2.74 ERA)...Starters are just 1-4 over the last seven games.

DARREN HIM TO RUN: Outfielder Darren Ford stole his 24th base of the season in yesterday's contest at Akron...He ranks second in the Eastern League with 24 stolen bases...The 24-year-old leads the league with 34 stolen base attempts and has been thrown out a league-leading 10 times...He stole 35 bases in 47 attempts with Advanced-A San Jose in 2009 and put together three straight 60-plus stolen base seasons 2006-2008 including a career-high 69 stolen bases with Low-A West Virginia in 2006.

CLAY-MATION: Outfielder Clay Timpner is hitting .409 (9-for-22) over his last six games with two doubles, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored...He has also walked twice over that span and has not struck out...Over his previous 12 games, Timpner was 3-for-35 at the plate (.086) with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored...He struck out four times and walked four times...The 27-year-old is tied with New Hampshire's Shawn Bowman for eighth in the Eastern League with a .304 batting average.

HITTER BY DESIGNATION: The Flying Squirrels are hitting .250 (257-for-1027) with the designated hitter in the line up...The club is batting .239 (328-for-1374) with the pitcher batting...Richmond DHs are batting just .204 (23-for-113) on the season; however, the DHs are just 3-for-57 over the last 16 games against American League affiliates (since 5/18)...The Flying Squirrel DHs were hitting .357 (20-for-56) over their first 16 games...Richmond pitchers are hitting just .130 (12-for-92) at the plate with 52 strikeouts...The Flying Squirrels are 18-14 against American League affiliates and will face an AL affiliate over the next 10 games counting today.

BEHIND THE CURVE: The Flying Squirrels were 22-13 and had a 1 1/2 game lead in the Western Division through the first 35 games; however, the club is 11-27 (.289) over its last 38 games...No other team has a lower winning percentage since 5/14...Richmond has lost 17 games in the standings since 5/14 and is a season-high 15 1/2 games out of first...Erie is 12-25 (.324) since 5/14.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 96 double plays in 73 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned and has not gone more than two games without turning a double play.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Richmond lost for the first time when a starter went seven innings or more with yesterday's 3-2 loss at Akron...The club is now 11-1 when a starting pitcher goes seven innings or more.
