Bowie Baysox starting pitcher Zach Britton has been selected to represent the United States in the 12th Annual XM Futures Game Sunday, July 11, in Anaheim, Calif. The left-hander was the only Orioles minor league player selected to play in the game this year.

Britton is having a fine season for the Baysox, going 6-3 with a 2.62 ERA in 14 games for Bowie. He has allowed 72 hits in 79.0 innings while walking 27 and striking out 59. He currently leads the Eastern League with a 3.19 ground outs-to-air outs ratio.

Last year, the Orioles were represented in the Futures game by Baysox left-hander Brian Matusz and former Baysox starter Chris Tillman.

The game features two 25-man rosters representing the United States and the World. The rosters are selected by Major League Baseball, in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, USA Baseball and the 30 Major League Baseball Clubs. Each major league organization is represented, and the World Team features players from 10 countries and territories. Players from all full-season minor leagues were eligible to participate.
