Aeros Stat of the Night:

. The Akron Aeros pitching staff recorded 11 strikeouts Thursday as the team is averaging 8.3 K's in the last 21 games and now leads the Eastern League with 553 this season.

Aerodynamics.

. Terrific Thursday. Left fielder John Drennen provided yet another game-winning hit Thursday afternoon as the Aeros won 3-2 in the the rubber match of a three-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Canal Park. A rowdy afternoon crowd of 4,946 at Canal Park saw an exciting start to the game as Akron took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on back-to-back RBI singles by Tim Fedroff and Miguel Perez. Richmond responded to tie the game in the third on a run-scoring wild pitch by Aeros starter Nick Hagadone and another single. In the bottom of that frame, Jason Kipnis and Lonnie Chisenhall led off with base hits before a Matt McBride hit into a fielder's choice. Drennen then plated Kipnis from third on a lining single to left-center, providing the final run of the contest as the Aeros bullpen dominated the rest of the way. Bryan Price (2-2) earned the win with two shutout frames while Squirrels starter Daryl Maday (8-4) took the loss and Steven Wright recorded his third save of the season.

. Husky Hagadone. Thursday was a solid bounce back outing by the 6'5" lefty Hagadone as he led the strong pitching effort with seven strikeouts against two runs in three innings pitched. The University of Washington product was acquired from Boston last July and he was named the third-best prospect in the Indians system by Baseball America prior to the 2010 season. He was promoted from Class A Kinston last month but continues to be on a limited pitch count following Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2008. Between 15 starts in K-Tribe and Akron this year, Hagadone has 66 strikeouts in 56.2 innings pitched.

. Red Bull. The Akron Aeros bullpen was dominant again Thursday, providing six shutout innings in relief of Hagadone. The combination of Price, Wright and Connor Graham allowed only one hit and two walks along with four strikeouts to secure the narrow lead. Since May 8th, Aeros relievers have a phenomenal 2.73 ERA in 44 games with 152 strikeouts and a 1.26 WHIP.

. Double Down. Akron hit into a season-high four double plays during Thursday afternoon's victory against the Flying Squirrels. The team now ranks second in the league with 68 double plays on the season, just behind 76 by the Portland Sea Dogs.

. Righty Tighty. Binghamton's lefty Mike Antonini will be the first southpaw to start against the Aeros since June 9th at Canal Park when Luis Perez pitched for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. During this peculiar 13-game stretch against strictly right-handed starters, Akron posted a 7-6 record overall while the offense averaged 4.6 runs and nine hits per contest.

. Even Stevens. The visiting B-Mets and the Aeros are the only two teams in the league with identical records at 36-36 on the season. This is the fourth and final series between these two teams as Akron began the season by winning three out of four at NYSEG Stadium, then Binghamton won all three at Canal Park in before a four-game split back in Binghamton late last month.
