
Texas Stars Fall 6-1 In Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City, OK - The Texas Stars (6-5-0-0, 12 points) were defeated by the Oklahoma City Barons (8-4-1-0, 17 points) 6-1 in front of 5,490 fans on Friday night at the Cox Convention Center. After the Stars took a 1-0 lead, the Barons rattled off six unanswered goals for their fifth straight win. Oklahoma City goalie Martin Gerber (7-4-0) made 29 saves for the win. Stars goalie Brent Krahn (4-3-0) took the loss, stopping 21 of 26 shots in 40:00 minutes of work. Texas returns home to host the Toronto Marlies at 7:00 pm at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday night.
The Stars jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal just 1:09 into the game. Stars forward Greg Rallo tipped a Philip Larsen shot from the point for his first goal of the season. The Barons countered to tie the game 1-1 at 12:10. Oklahoma City defenseman Johan Motin played the puck to the net and center Chris Vandevelde tipped the puck past Stars goalie Brent Krahn for his second goal of the year. Oklahoma City took a 2-1 lead before the period expired. Linus Omark scored his fifth goal of the year with 1:02 left in the first period. Forward Liam Reddox found Omark on a backdoor feed and the Barons second leading scorer finished off the play by putting the Barons in front.
In the second period, the Barons extended their lead to 3-1 at 8:50 with Colin McDonald's fifth goal of the year. The Barons added two more late goals before the second period ended. Defenseman Johan Motin scored his first goal of the year at 17:55, pushing the Barons lead to 4-1. Oklahoma City added a power-play goal prior to the end of the middle frame. At 18:43, Brad Moran worked the puck to the Stars net, slipping in his sixth goal of the year for the 5-1 Barons lead. Texas goalie Brent Krahn was pulled after two periods of play, finishing the night with 21 saves on 26 shots.
In the third period, Richard Bachman came in for a relief appearance, making seven saves. The Barons scored a third-period goal on Bachman at 6:35. Chris Vandevelde tallied a shorthanded goal off a rebound for his second goal of the night and a 6-1 final.
Texas returns home to face the Toronto Marlies on Saturday, November 6th at 7:00 pm. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Texas Stars insulated lunch bag compliments of H-E-B.
