Utah Grizzlies News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH * The Utah Grizzlies, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), announced today that Terry Virtue has been named the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month winner for the month of December honoring the veteran defenseman for playing in his 800th AHL game.

On December 18th versus the Milwaukee Admirals, the Scarborough, Ontario native became just the 26th player in AHL history to suite up in 800 league games. Currently, Virtue has played in 804 games moving him past Mitch Lamoureaux into the 24th position on the AHL*s all-time games played list.

In his career, Virtue has scored 83 goals with 283 assists for 366 career points. In 90 Calder Cup playoff games he has totaled eight goals with 32 assists, a resume that includes scoring the biggest goal in Hartford Wolf Pack history during the 2000 Calder Cup finals, the overtime cup-clinching goal versus the Rochester Americans. Virtue also won the Calder Cup as a member of the Providence Bruins in 1999.

The Grizzlies acquired Virtue on loan from the Springfield Falcons on November 22, 2004 in exchange for Nikos Tsleios.

In recognition of the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month, Virtue will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Grizzlies home game.
