Grizzlies' Virtue earns CCM AHL Milestone of the Month

January 4, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League has named Utah Grizzlies defenseman Terry Virtue as the recipient of the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month award for December.

On Dec. 18, Virtue became just the 26th player in American Hockey League history to skate in 800 regular-season games when he hit the ice for the Grizzlies' contest against the Milwaukee Admirals at the "E" Center in West Valley City, Utah. Virtue recorded an assist in the 5-4 Grizzlies win.

Acquired from Springfield on Nov. 22, the 34-year-old Virtue has now recorded 83 goals and 283 assists for 366 points in 804 career AHL games. A native of Scarborough, Ont., Virtue also has 90 postseason AHL games to his credit, winning back-to-back Calder Cup championships with Providence (1999) and Hartford (2000). He played in the AHL All-Star Classic in 1997 and again in 2004, when he was named captain of the Canadian All-Star team, and was a Second Team AHL All-Star selection in 1999.

Virtue currently ranks seventh among defensemen and 24th overall on the AHL's all-time games played list.

In recognition of the CCM AHL Milestone of the Month, Virtue will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Grizzlies home game.
