Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League are set to host a pair of games this weekend with Fresno in town on Friday, and Anchorage on Saturday. Both games start at 7:00pm, and the doors open at 6:00pm.

Friday's game features the annual Team Calendar giveaway, for the first 3,000 fans through the turnstiles. The calendars are sponsored by KRAB Radio and CARQUEST, and will also be for sale for those who don't receive a complimentary one. The full-color, 12-month calendars feature members of the 2002-03 squad. They include action shots as well as pictures of the players posing with animals awaiting adoption from the Bakersfield Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The calendars will also be for sale at arena merchandise stands, the Condors Closet retail outlet across from Centennial Garden, and at the Bakersfield SPCA at 3000 Gibson St. A donation of $2 will be made to the Bakersfield SPCA from each calendar purchase.

Friday's game will be the first telecast of the season, on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21. Every Friday night for the remainder of the season there will be a telecast, including eight "live" home games, which will be replayed the following Saturday morning at 10:00am. On Friday nights when the team is not playing at home, Time Warner will air a special "Condors Classic" from past Condors seasons. Each "Condors Classic" will be a memorable game in the five-year history of CondorsTown.

Friday is also a Colonel Claw'd's Kid's Club Night, as all members will receive complimentary admission to the game. The Kid's Club is sponsored by Time Warner Cable, the Bakersfield Californian and John's Incredible Pizza.

On Saturday night, the Condors host the Anchorage Aces for Youth Replica Jersey Night. The first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a replica 5th Anniversary Jamie Cooke jersey, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, McDonald's and Fillmore Realty & Financial Services.

That night is also One for the Community Night, as students that sold ten or more Entertainment Books in the One for the Community program will be recognized for their outstanding efforts in raising money through the school fundraiser. The program is sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and the Condors.

For both games, fans can receive a $2 discount on a regularly priced ticket by presenting their Bakersfield Californian Press Pass.

Joe Cannon, from the U.S. Marine Corps, will return to sing the National Anthem again this Friday. Every home win for the Condors this season has come when Cannon steps behind the microphone.

Tonight, the "Condors Coach's Show" takes place from 6-7pm at the Holiday Inn Select and live on KGEO AM 1230. The scheduled guests are center Shawn Byram and rookie defenseman Jonas Lennartsson, as well as the weekly appearance by Head Coach Paul Kelly. Call-ins are welcome during the show at 631-1230, or fans can join the show live, have the chance to win Condors prizes, and enjoy drink specials.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
