Tarkki Called Up to AHL Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that goaltender Tuomas Tarkki has been called up to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. The Gladiators have also announced that Curtis Ryser has been added as an emergency back up goaltender.

Tarkki posted a shutout in his first professional start on opening night making 34 saves for the Gladiators in a 1-0 shootout loss against the Charlotte Checkers.

In 2 games with the Gladiators, the Rauma, Finland native has posted a 2.41 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.

Tarkki was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award last season while at Northern Michigan and was also named the 2005 CCHA Player of the Year and won the CCHA's Best Goaltender Award.

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday, November 11th as they host the Florida Everblades at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
