Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots announced today that the Stanley Cup will be at the Ice Pilots home game on Sunday, November 20 when the Ice Pilots play the Augusta Lynx at 4:05 p.m.

The Stanley Cup began touring the cities of 20 ECHL teams on October 26 to help raise money for hurricane relief efforts.

All proceeds will benefit charities assisting in hurricane relief efforts including, but not limited to, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and United Way. This tour is another addition to the National Hockey League's charitable efforts, which have included a joint donation with the NHL Players' Association of $1 million to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.

"I would like to thank Commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League, the NHL Players' Association and the Hockey Hall of Fame for their role in raising the level of awareness and assistance for people in both Mississippi and Southeast Texas, two ECHL markets hard hit by Hurricane Katrina and Rita. We encourage fans in all participating cities to come see professional sport's most famous trophy and help in fundraising at the same time," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna.

"We are very excited for the arrival of the Stanley Cup in Pensacola," said Ice Pilots President Mario Forgione. "In the last year, Pensacola has experienced first hand the impact from the hurricanes and there are a number of evacuees from hurricane Katrina and Rita living in the area. We thank the NHL, NHL Players' Association and the Hockey Hall of Fame for being so supportive."

Hockey's most famous trophy will be the center of various activities throughout the tour, including media appearances and private showings. The "Keeper of the Cup" from the Hockey Hall of Fame also will be available to answer questions and talk ab out the history of hockey. Fans will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the Stanley Cup and make a monetary donation towards hurricane relief.
