HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Lakewood BlueClaws (28-38/54-79) fell behind again in the first, and couldn't come back falling 14-1 to the Hagerstown Suns (41-25/79-54) Thursday night at Municipal Stadium. The loss marked the second in a row for Lakewood and dropped the season series to 7-15 against the Suns.

For the second game in a row, the Suns jumped out to an early, two-run lead in the first inning. Jon Prosinski took the mound for the final time of the 2013 season and retired the first two men he faced, but ran into trouble with the three and four hitters.

Shawn Pleffner was jammed on a Prosinski (2-2) fastball, but pushed it beyond the dive of Willie Carmona at third for a single. On the next pitch, Wander Ramos crushed a fly ball to right-center for a two-run home run and the Suns were up 2-0.

Austin Voth made his second start for the Suns, and second against the BlueClaws. Voth (1-0) weaved his way through the first three innings in hitless fashion as the only baserunner reached on an error to the first baseman.

Down 2-0 in the fourth, the Claws finally strung back-to-back hits together and put a run on the board. J.P. Crawford led off the inning with a single and was brought home on an RBI double by Willie Carmona, which made it 2-1.

The score remained 2-1 as both starters were lifted and their outings finished. Prosinski worked the five innings and gave up the two runs in the first inning, but that was it. The righty allowed the two runs on five hits, walked four, and struck out one. Voth went one inning farther than the BlueClaws starter and allowed the one run on two hits, a walk, and five strikeouts.

Chris Nichols took over in the stead of Prosinski and struggled in his first inning of work. Nichols gave up a leadoff double to Will Piwnica-Worms and with one out, Pedro Severino reached on a throwing error by Carmona to put two on with one out in the inning.

Stephen Perez was next and hit a ball to left that snuck through the wickets of Larry Greene, Jr. for a two-run double and upped the lead to 4-1 over Lakewood. As it turned out, the sixth was just the beginning of the damage.

Over the course of the seventh and eighth innings, the Suns piled on 10 more runs and upped the lead to 14-1. Lino Martinez took over for Nichols in the seventh and he was touched up for four runs, all earned on two hits and four walks in just two-thirds of an inning.

In the eighth it was Delvi Francisco pitching in his first full inning of work, after he recorded the final out of the seventh. Francisco faired no better than Martinez and gave up five runs, all unearned on two hits and two walks in two-thirds of the eighth. Josh Ludy took over on the mound for the second time this season and gave up a run on two hits, but recorded the final out of the eighth.

The BlueClaws picked up two hits over the final three innings, but couldn't put a rally together for a comeback.

Deborah Heart and Lung Center Player of the Game: Stephen Perez (HAG): 2-5, 2B, HR, 5RBI

The BlueClaws will return home and open up their final home series of the season as they welcome in the Greensboro Grasshoppers (Marlins affiliate) for a four-game set. Game one of the series will feature RHP Mark Leiter, Jr. (1-0, 0.00) of the BlueClaws and RHP Austin Brice (8-10, 5.40) of the Hoppers.
