Lexington Legends News Release
The Lexington Legends will close out the 2013 season with home games Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday against the West Virginia Power, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Legends are wrapping up their first season as an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Among the highlights, the Legends will thank fans for their support with Fan Appreciation Night Saturday, August 31. The final Ford Fireworks show of the season will also be held Saturday, and fans are invited to bring their dogs to the park for Monday's game.
"It's been a fantastic 2013 season," said Legends General Manager Seth Poteat. "So many highlights in our first season as a Royals affiliate. We've seen a no-hitter, a player hit for the cycle, and an honest-to-goodness pennant race right up until the final week of the season -- not to mention all the great promotions. Sadly it must come to an end, but we're going out in style this weekend with our Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Fan Appreciation Night and Ford Fireworks, one more Kids Club Day and a fantastic Labor Day finale where everyone can bring their dog and all kids 12 and under eat free. What a weekend!"
The schedule:
Friday, August 30: Legends vs. West Virginia, 7:05 p.m. The Legends will hold their annual Hall of Fame night. Pitcher Jordan Lyles, now with the Houston Astros, will be inducted into the Legends Hall of Fame in a pregame ceremony. Lyles set the Legends' single season strikeout record with 167 in 2009.
Saturday, August 31: Legends vs. West Virginia, 7:05 p.m. Saturday is Fan Appreciation Night, and the Legends will give away hundreds of Legends items to thank their fans for all their support in 2013. Saturday is also Jersey Off Our Back Night. A silent auction of player jerseys worn in the game that night will benefit the St. Joseph Nurses Foundation. The final Ford Fireworks show of the season will take place after the game.
Sunday, September 1: Legends vs. West Virginia, 1:35 p.m. It's the final JIF Kids Club Sunday of the season. The Kids Club Ice Cream Social, with all the Legends players as special guests, will be held immediately after the game. (Kids Club member ID must be presented to get ice cream.) Kids Club members receive special benefits such as t-shirts, discounts at the Legends Clubhouse store and many more. More information is available at lexingtonlegends.com. All kids may run the bases after the game.
Monday, September 2: Legends vs. West Virginia, 12:05 p.m. The Legends will close out the season with one more Bark in the Park event. Fans are welcome to bring their dogs to the game. There is a two-dollar admission charge for each dog, with proceeds going to the Lexington Humane Society. It's also "Kids Eat Free" day, sponsored by Members Heritage Federal Credit Union. All kids age 12 and under will receive a voucher good for a free meal and drink. In recognition of "Labor" Day, all expectant mothers may get a box seat free of charge. Everyone may run the bases after the game.
