RHP Kyle Hansen (6-8, 3.94) vs. RHP Juan Guzman (6-5, 4.46)

Today's Preview: The Intimidators (A, White Sox) can clinch a fifth straight series win today as they play the series rubber match against the Shorebirds (A, Orioles) in the third and final game of the series. It's the last road game of the year for Kannapolis, which has won 12 of its last 15 games. With just five games left in the regular season, this begins the last trip through the Intimidators rotation, and today Kyle Hansen makes his last scheduled start of 2013. Hansen has taken a decision in six straight starts, including a hard-luck loss in his last outing. The Intimidators are getting their fourth look at Juan Guzman, who took a loss to the Intimidators when he faced them July 17 in Salisbury, Md. The Shorebirds have clinched a win in the season-series, which they lead 9-6. This is the last road game of the year for the Intimidators.

Intimidating Starter: Kyle Hansen, 22, makes his 20th final scheduled start of the season. The 6'8" right-hander is coming off six straight decisions, and has posted a 2.51 ERA in five starts in August. Hansen has lowered his ERA every month of the season, from 5.73 in May, to 4.35 in June, and 3.63 in July. In his last start, he took a loss to Rome, allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits in 6.0 innings, striking out 11 batters, a career-high, while walking none. Despite having made 20 appearances, he has not faced the Shorebirds this season. The White Sox picked Hansen in the sixth round of the June 2012 draft out of St. John's University in Queens, NY where he was a First-Team All-Big East selection as a sophomore and a 2nd-Team All-American by Baseball America in 2010.

Dealing for Delmarva: Juan Guzman, 22, makes his 19th start of the season and third against Kannapolis. He has struggled against Kannapolis, going 0-1 with a 7.50 ERA (10 ER/12 IP) in three games (two starts) and allowing Kannapolis to hit .386 (22-57) against him. Guzman spent most of the first two months of the year working out of the bullpen, going 2-0 with a 6.59 ERA in seven games but has improved since becoming a full-time starter, going 4-5 with a 4.14 ERA in 18 starts. Guzman dominated the GCL in 2011, posting a 1.09 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 33 innings and found similar success when he opened 2012 with Aberdeen in the Short-Season NYPL, going 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA in seven starts. He struggled after making the jump to the SAL to end last season, going 1-3 with a 7.08 ERA in five games (three starts) with Delmarva.

Hey Now, You're An All-Star: Second baseman Micah Johnson has been named to the SAL Annual All-Star Team, the league announced today. Johnson hit .342 in 77 games with Kannapolis and set a new franchise record for stolen bases in a single season with 61, which still ranks second in the league. He leads the Minors with 83 stolen bases and today was promoted from Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem to Double-A Birmingham. The Intimidators promoted Johnson to Winston-Salem on July 3.

May-hem: Jacob May went 2-5 on Wednesday, running his hitting streak to 15 games, the longest by an Intimidators hitter this season. May is batting .443 (27-61) with four doubles, two triples, two home runs and seven RBI in 15 games since Aug. 13. He has 10 multi-hit games in this span. After hitting just .174 in 24 game in July, the White Sox third round pick in June 2013 owns a slash of .392/.439/.637 in 25 August games. May surpassed the 14-game hitting streak that Adam Heisler put together earlier this season.

Tim's Tally: Tim Anderson, the White Sox first round pick in the June 2013 draft, has matched his career-best hitting streak by going 2-5 on Wednesday, his ninth straight game with a hit. He is batting .353 (12-34) in nine games since Aug. 19, and he has hit safely in 20 of his last 23 games. Anderson is batting .292 (29-96) in 24 games in August after a rough July in which he hit .235. Anderson made his professional debut with Kannapolis on June 20, and he is batting .275 this season.
