(AUGUSTA, Ga.) Augusta scored four runs in the sixth inning to take the lead, and the GreenJackets held on for a 5-4 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night.
After each team scored a run in the fourth inning, the Legends took a 4-1 lead with three runs in the top of the sixth. Terrence Gore led off with a triple and scored on a third-strike wild pitch to Raul Mondesi, who reached first base. Hunter Dozier singled, sending Mondesi to second. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third, and Bubba Starling walked to load the bases. Mark Donato's sacrifice fly brought home one run, and Alex Hudak's two-out single scored another.
Augusta answered quickly. A single by Alberto Robles, a double by Mitch Delfino and a ground out produced one run. Charles Jones' infield single scored a second run, and Jones continued to second on a throwing error by pitcher Clayton Schulz. Andrew Cain's single scored Jones, and after Cain stole second base, Shayne Houck singled to bring home the deciding run.
The Legends return home for the final four games of the season against the West Virginia Power. Game time Friday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark is 7:05 p.m.
