Albany River Rats News Release

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today that right wing Aleksander Suglobov has been reassigned by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. The team also announced that Suglobov has been selected to replace defenseman David Hale on the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team at the upcoming 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Suglobov was also selected to play in the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic but was unable to participate due to injury.

Suglobov, 24, was recalled for the second time by the Devils on January 13, 2006, but did not see any action. His scored his first NHL goal earlier this season on December 17, 2005 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The 6-0, 200-pound right wing still leads the River Rats with 15 goals and 30 points in 35 games during the 2005-06 campaign. The native of Elektrosal, Russia was originally drafted by New Jersey with their third choice (56th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, home of the AHL's Manitoba Moose, and will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League. The event gets underway on Tuesday, January 31, with the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (CT). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, February 1, and will be televised live in North America.

The Albany River Rats, owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., are in their 13th American Hockey League campaign and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
