Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, IL (January 23, 2006) - President and CEO Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen, the proud primary affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, announced today the details of the team's upcoming "CATERPILLAR Night" on Saturday, January 28. That evening, the Rivermen will host the Grand Rapids Griffins at Carver Arena at 8:00 p.m., and the first 2,500 fans who enter the building after the doors open at 7:00 p.m. will receive a Rivermen fleece blanket courtesy of CATERPILLAR. The event will also feature an appearance by racecar driver Dave Blaney, who pilots the number 22 CATERPILLAR-sponsored car that competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.
The Rivermen CATERPILLAR Night will be Blaney's first-ever appearance in Peoria. From 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening, Blaney will receive fans and sign autographs at no charge on the Carver Arena concourse. The NASCAR driver will then participate in a question-and-answer session conducted by Rivermen public address announcer B. J. Stone on the Carver Arena ice surface during the first intermission of Saturday's game. Also throughout the night, Blaney's number 22 CATERPILLAR Dodge Charger show car will be on display on the Carver Arena concourse.
Blaney, 43, has been racing professionally since 1981, and the 2006 season will be his first as the driver of the number 22 CATERPILLAR Dodge Charger owned by Bill Davis Racing. Blaney also racked up two top-10 finishes and six top-15 finishes in 2005. In 199 career Nextel Cup Series starts since his first in 1992, Blaney has started on the pole once, achieved one top-five finish and 19 top-10 finishes, and accrued over $13.6 million in winnings.
