Portland Pirates News Release
Today Dustin Penner was named the Pirates Player of the Week. Penner had two goals against Hershey on both Saturday and Sunday to increase his point-scoring streak to six games. On Wednesday, Penner will join "The Morning Jab" on WJAB 1440AM/95.5FM at 8:00 a.m.
Tomorrow morning the Pirates will host a skills competition at 10:00 a.m. at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Pirates players will be competing to find out the fastest skater, hardest shot, most accurate shot, best stick-handling skills. All fans and media are invited to attend.
Next home game: Friday, January 27th vs. Springfield at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Civic Center Box Office at (207) 775-3458.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
Friday, January 27th vs. Springfield 7:05 p.m. - The Portland Pirates are teaming up with Junior Achievement for the "Expeditionary Learning High School Game". Nineteen ninth grade students at Portland's Expeditionary Learning High School will present and sell tickets for the game against Springfield. The students have planned a Pirate costume contest so be sure to wear your best Pirate attire. After the game, there will be a skate with the team.

Saturday, January 28th vs. Toronto Marlies 7:05 p.m. - Port City Life Night! The first 1,000 fans will receive a free copy of the new Romance issue of Port City Life featuring the Pirates players. Fifty fans will have the chance to meet and greet Shane O'Brien and Geoff Peters after the game, plus one lucky fan will win a Romantic Getaway in Portland. Saturday is also AAA Member Appreciation Night. The first 1,000 fans will receive AAA tote bags.
SPECIAL OF THE WEEK! Stop by the Pirates store at 94 Free Street or visit the merchandise stand this weekend and buy any t-shirt and receive a free Crackers' puck.
Saturday, February 3rd vs. Hartford Wolf Pack 7:05 p.m. - U.S. Cellular Player Cards Giveaway! The first 5,000 fans receive the first set of 12 Portland Pirates player collector cards sponsored by U.S. Cellular.
IN THE COMMUNITY
On Tuesday, January 24th, Curtis Glencross will present the Pirates "Goals for Success" program at the Nathan Clifford School in Portland. The "Goals for Success" program is sponsored by Healthy Maine Partnerships and Pepsi.
On Wednesday, January 25th, Curtis Glencross will be at the new Hannaford location in Portland on Route 302 (787 Riverside Street) from 6-7 p.m. At the event the Pirates will giveaway tickets every ten minutes!
On Saturday, January 28th, the Portland Harbor Hotel opens their annual ice bar. The Pirates will join Chef Jeff Landry, Eve's Executive Chef who will be carving a 7,000 pound ice bar to serve martinis and ice wines.
