Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (17-28-0-2) will play two home games in two nights against two North Division opponents this weekend. Hamilton will begin the week on Saturday, January 28 by facing the Rochester Americans (21-20-1-1) at Copps Coliseum (7:00 p.m.). The Bulldogs will then take on the Manitoba Moose (27-13-3-2) on Sunday, January 29 at Copps Coliseum (4:00 p.m.) to complete the weekend.

Player Notes

- D Andre Benoit recorded his first multi-point game since October 28, earning two assists in Hamilton's 4-2 loss to the Manitoba Moose on Friday, January 20.

- LW Jean-Francois Jacques scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season on Saturday, January 21 in the Bulldogs' 4-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose.

- C Francis Lemieux recorded his first point in nine games when he earned an assist on Jacques' goal

- D James Sanford had his four-game point streak snapped on Saturday night. Sanford posted two goals and three assists during the streak.

- RW Duncan Milroy scored his first goal in 16 games on Sunday, January 22, in Hamilton's 2-1 loss to the Toronto Marlies.

- C J.J. Hunter played in his first game of the season on Sunday. Hunter had been sidelined with a shoulder injury. It was his first game with the Bulldogs since the 2002-03 playoffs.

- D Mathieu Roy has eight points (1g, 7a) in his last seven games.

- The ‘Dogs take on the Amerks for the seventh time this season, and fifth time at Copps Coliseum.

- The Americans sit in fifth place in the North Division with a record of 21-20-1-1.

- Hamilton has a record of 2-4-0-0 versus Rochester this season.

- In their last meeting on January 15 at the Blue Cross Arena, ‘Dogs forward Maxim Lapierre scored the game-winner while the Bulldogs were shorthanded, and goaltender Jeff Deslauriers made 34 saves on 35 shots as the Bulldogs defeated the Americans 3-1.

- Rochester D Nathan Paetsch has 32 points (5g, 27a) in 42 games this season, and sits in sixth place among league defensemen in scoring.

- The ‘Dogs take on the Moose for the sixth time this season, and second time at Copps Coliseum.

- The Moose currently sit in second place in the North Division with a record of 27-13-3-2.

- Hamilton has a record of 1-3-0-1 versus Manitoba this season, with their lone victory coming on home ice.

- In their last meeting on January 21 at the MTS Centre, Bulldogs forward Jean-Francois Jacques scored his team leading 13th goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as the Moose defeated Hamilton by a score of 4-1.

- Manitoba owns the AHL's fourth best win percentage on the road (.619), posting a recording of 11-6-3-1.

- Moose forward Jason King has five points (3g, 2a) in five games, including a pair of assists against Hamilton on Saturday. King missed the majority of the season due to a concussion

- Stars C Steve Ott and RW Antti Miettinen each earned an assist as Dallas dropped a 6-3 decision to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Saturday, January 21

- Canadiens RW Michael Ryder posted one goal and one assist in Montreal's 6-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

- Oilers RW Georges Laraque scored his first goal of the season and C Jarret Stoll earned an assist as Edmonton was defeated by Phoenix 4-3 in a shootout.

- Rangers RW Jason Ward scored a goal in New York's 3-2 shootout win over the Boston Bruins.

- Red Wings RW Dan Cleary earned an assist in Detroit's 4-3 win over Colorado.
