
Stovall Smashes Yard Goats to Victory

Manchester, NH - Yard Goats SS Hunter Stovall had three hits, including a go-ahead two-run double in the 9th inning, leading the Hartford Yard Goats to a 3-1 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Thursday evening at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Stovall smashed the double to the gap in centerfield, scoring Daniel Cope and Tyler Hill to break the 1-1 tie and help the Yard Goats beat the Fisher Cats for the second time in three games. Hartford starter Michael Baird recorded a season-high ten strikeouts in seven innings, PJ Poulin retired all three batters faced for the win, and Gavin Hollowell worked a 1-2-3 inning to earn the save. Yard Goats pitching combined for 14 strikeouts.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game as Grant Lavigne walked with the bases loaded in the first inning off Fisher Cats starter Yosver Zulueta, giving Hartford a 1-0 lead. The run was set up with singles by Hunter Stovall and Aaron Schunk. Zulueta settled down after the first inning and registered eight strikeouts in four innings.
The Fisher Cats tied the game with a run in the third inning off Yard Goats starter Michael Baird. Aiello walked took second base on a wild pitch and eventually scored from second base on another wild pitch to make it 1-1. Baird was outstanding and kept the Fisher Cats hitters off balance all night. He allowed just a pair of singles over the first five innings, and four hits over seven frames while leaving a 1-1 game.
The Yard Goats rallied off reliever Sean Rackoski in the ninth inning. Daniel Cope had a one-out single and Tyler Hill followed with a single. Hunter Stovall then cracked a two-run double, scoring both base-runners for the 3-1 lead.
The Yard Goats continue their six-game series on Friday night (7:05 PM) at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. LHP Nick Bush will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Hayden Juenger will start for the Fisher Cats. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, July 12th (7:05 PM) and will host the Washington Nationals affiliate, the Harrisburg Senators.
