Akron RubberDucks News Release
Despite five scoreless from Tanner Bibee, the Altoona Curve scored late to come from behind and edge the Akron RubberDucks 3-2 on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Already up 2-1 in the top of the eighth, the Curve picked up a much-needed insurance run when a ground ball got past Raynel Delgado at third to plate a run and make it 3-1 Altoona.
Mound Presence
Tanner Bibee got the start for Akron in his Double-A debut and ran into some early trouble loading the bases with two outs in the first. But a pop out to the catcher allowed the right-hander to escape the early jam. In total, Bibbee tossed five scoreless innings allowing five hits and a walk while striking out six batters. Eli Lingos followed with an inning and a third allowing two runs while striking out one. Robert Broom worked out a bases loaded jam in the seventh on his way to two and two thirds innings allowing one unearned run.
Duck Tales
Akron jumped on the board first in the fourth inning when double by Micah Pries was followed by three straight walks to give the RubberDucks a 1-0 lead. In the bottom on the eighth, Brayan Rocchio hit a home run behind the left field wall to cut the Altoona lead down to 3-2.
