Rijo Homers Twice in R-Phils' Win

The Reading Fightin Phils won an exciting contest 5-3 over the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Thursday night. Wendell Rijo launched two home runs in the contest, while Johan Rojas also recorded a pair of hits. McKinley Moore (4) got the win while Brian Marconi (11) picked up the save.

Richmond's Sean Roby had the first run of the game, a solo shot, for his 22nd long ball of the season.

Rijo was there to tie it up in the next frame with a homer of his own.

Reading took the lead in the third as Simon Muzziotti blazed his first home run of the season to deep right. The Fightins added an insurance run as Rojas tripled to reach and was brought home on Logan O'Hoppe's RBI single.

The Flying Squirrels tied it up in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run double by Armani Smith. They stranded two on to end the frame.

Rijo came ready to bat in the top of the ninth and smoked his second home run of the game to break the tie. Reading tacked on one more as Muzziotti sent home AJ Graffanino, who reached on a double and moved over on a HBP to Kevin Vicuna. Reading won 5-3.

Ethan Lindow threw a quality start of six and two thirds innings allowing three runs on six hits. It was the longest outing of his career.

Tyler McKay finished up the seventh cleanly and got two outs in the eighth. He left with two on.

McKinley Moore (W, 4-2) picked up a big strikeout on a 97 mph fastball to get out of the eighth without allowing a run.

Brian Marconi notched his 11th save of the season, taking sole place of first in the Eastern League.
