Akron RubberDucks News Release
(AKRON, OHIO) - Akron RubberDucks first baseman and outfielder Micah Pries and left-hander Logan Allen were named Eastern League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for the month of June.
Pries hit .312 with nine home runs and 25 RBI in 25 games played during the month of June. He led the league in RBI, total bases (64) and slugging (.688) during the month, while ranking second in homers and third in OPS (1.082). He earned back-to-back Eastern League Player of the Week honors for the two weeks from June 21-July 3 after recording a hit in all 11 games against Harrisburg and Erie.
During that stretch, Pries was 19-for-42 with 13 runs scored, four doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI. From June 26-30, Pries homered in four straight games, which matches the longest such streak in the Eastern League this season.
A 2019 13th round pick out of Point Loma Nazarene, Pries is in his first season with the RubberDucks. In 63 games with Akron, Pries is batting .272 with 14 home runs (leads the team), three triples (tied for team lead) and 46 RBI (second most on the team).
Allen went 3-0 with a 1.75 ERA over four starts in June striking out 39 batters over 25.2 innings pitched. He earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of June 13-19 after he struck out a career-high 11 batters over six scoreless innings against Hartford on June 16. Allen followed that start by striking out 11 and allowing just one run in his final start at Canal Park on June 23.
A 2020 second round pick out of Florida International, Allen was 5-3 with a 3.33 ERA over 13 starts with the RubberDucks. He struck out 104 batters - still the most in the Eastern League this season - over 73.0 innings pitcher before being promoted to Triple-A Columbus on June 29.
Pries becomes the first member of the RubberDucks to be named Player of the Month while Allen joins left-hander Joey Cantillo (May winner) as members of the Akron staff to earn Pitcher of the Month honors.
The Akron RubberDucks continue their series with the Altoona Curve on Thursday, July 7 starting at 6:35 p.m.
