Storey recalled to Houston

Lafayette, LA – The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League have recalled defenseman Ben Storey from the Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL, the teams announced Thursday. Storey is expected to travel from Charlotte, NC to join the Aeros for their tilt against the San Antonio Rampage on March 12, 2004.

Storey, 27, (6/22/77) currently leads the ECHL in power play points with 39 (14g – 25a). Storey is also leading all ECHL defensemen in goals scored with 18 and is third in overall scoring with 56 points (18g – 38a). Storey was originally recalled from Louisiana on December 22, 2003. He tallied one assist in three games with the Aeros and was sent back to the IceGators December 28, 2003.

Storey is the second leading scorer for the IceGators with 56 points (18g – 38p). He started in the 2003-04 ECHL All-Star Game, and won the Hardest Shot competition with a 96.3 mph slapshot. He has played 131 AHL games with Hershey and Houston, in addition to one playoff game with Utah, totaling 39 points (8g – 31) and 256 penalty minutes. In his five-year career, counting ECHL and European totals, Storey has 161 points (49 – 112) in 281 games.

The Louisiana IceGators are in the middle of an extended tour of the Eastern Conference. The IceGators are 4-1 on their road trip with three games left to play before they return to Lafayette. The next IceGators home game will be March 17 against the Columbus Cottonmouths at 7:05 p.m. The St. Patrick's Day game will feature a costume contest and $2 green beer. Anyone wearing green will receive $2 off at the Cajundome box office.
