Serbus Nominated for ATAF Trainer of the Year

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the new ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with owner Tim Kerr, is proud to announce that Ice Pilots athletic trainer Jason Serbus of NovaCare Rehabilitation has been nominated for Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Athletic Trainers Association of Florida.

The award will be presented during the Awards Luncheon at the ATAF Clinical Symposium and Business Meeting on Saturday, April 17, 2004 held at the Hilton of Orlando in Altamonte Springs. The winner will be notified on March 15th.

The month of March is National Athletic Training Month. NovaCare Rehabilitation with its 12 trainers is the first in the area to coordinate athletic training in school systems. These trainers play a vital role in enhancing an athletes performance via conditioning and strength program as well as providing injury prevention and treatment. Jason Serbus of the Ice Pilots and others participate in Career Days, Back Pack Safety to middle schoolers, health fairs, and pre and post race sports care activities as well as sponsor the annual NovaCare Invitational District Track Meet in April.

With increased public awareness, communities can ensure that their athletes and students are being cared for by board certified state licensed athletic trainers.
