
50 Millionth Fan Will Be In Mississippi Thursday

PRINCETON, N.J. - The 50 millionth regular season ECHL fan will be in attendance on Thursday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum when the Mississippi Sea Wolves host the Texas Wildcatters.
There have been 49,999,596 fans for 11,145 regular season games in the 16-year history of the ECHL, leaving the league 404 fans shy of 50 million.
The Mississippi organization is going to present the lucky fan with a Sea Wolves jersey and season tickets for 2004-05. The ECHL will award the 50 millionth fan two league-wide season passes that will allow admittance to any ECHL preseason, regular season and Kelly Cup Playoff game for 2004-05 as well as an assortment of league apparel and novelties.
Mississippi has increased its average attendance almost 11 percent from last season, and is one of nine ECHL teams that have shown an increase. The ECHL is averaging 3,818 fans per game in 2003-04 and is on pace to increase average attendance for the first time since 1996-97.
The ECHL has drawn over two million fans per year for 12 consecutive seasons and has surpassed three million at the gate each of the past 10 years. The ECHL has drawn over four million fans five times in its history and at its current average will draw 4,260,888 in 2003-04. The league went over the four million mark four consecutive years from 1996-97 to 1999-2000 including a league-high 4,678,087 in 1999-2000.
