Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The first line of J.F. Caudron (1g-2a), Colin Hemingway (1g-2a) and Oren Eizenman (1g-1a) combined for eight points and goaltender Andrew Perugini made 26 saves to help the Stockton Thunder (26-22-8, 60 points) cruise to a 4-1 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings at Stockton Arena on Wednesday night.

The Thunder, who improved to 10-1-4 in the last 15 home games (dating back to Dec. 4), opened up a stretch of 11 home games in the month of March with a victory that helped keep a seven-point pace behind the Pacific Division's first place Bakersfield Condors, who defeated Idaho 3-1 earlier in the evening.

Stockton, who jumped to fourth place in the conference and lead to six points behind Victoria for third place, also improved to 3-0-1 in the last four games against their West Division counterparts.

Hemingway buried his 21st goal of the season from off the rush with 3:52 left in the first period to lift the Thunder to a 1-0 lead, taking Oren Eizenman's drop pass at the left circle and blasting a one-timer past Glenn Fisher's blocker side.

A shorthanded goal helped the Thunder boost the cushion to 2-0 when D'Alvise split the defense at the right circle, deked Fisher down the ice and roofed a forehand bid under the crossbar with 8:04 left in the second period.

Adam Taylor's 13th goal of the season put Victoria back in the contest, trailing 2-1 when he buried a rebound from the left circle.

Perugini upheld the two goal lead with 12 stops in the second period, including a backhanded chance by Wes Goldie from the left circle.

The Thunder responded just 1:30 later on Caudron's power-play goal, the 16th goal of the year when he converted Justin DaCosta's backdoor pass at the left goal post. Hemingway set-up DaCosta at the high slot, who raced down the middle and put a tape-to-tape feed on Caudron at the doorstep.

In the third period, the Thunder managed the puck for a large duration of time left on the clock and finished off the game when Eizenman nailed his 15th goal of the year in the mid slot with 48.5 seconds left in the game, converting on Hemingway's feed from the right circle.

Fisher, who was making his first appearance at Stockton Arena since a 31-save shutout in a 16-round shootout on Jan. 30, took the loss with 37 saves.

NOTES: The Thunder scratched Brett Hemingway (injured reserve), Mark Pavli (healthy), Matt O'Dette (injured reserve), and Craig Valette (injured reserve) ... Riley Emmerson was in the lineup and activated off the injured reserve list before the game ... Robinson's 12-game scoring streak came to an end ... Hemingway's trio of points game him 31 points in 24 lifetime regular season games against Victoria ... the Thunder outshot the Salmon Kings, 41-27 and converted at 1-for-3 on the power-play.

The Thunder is back home for its next game at Stockton Arena on Friday against Victoria, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard and viewed online, exclusively at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks (audio is free of charge).
