Salmon Kings' Irving Re-Assigned To Abbotsford Heat

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender Leland Irving has been re-assigned to the AHL's Abbotsford Heat by the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The native of Swan Hills, Alberta is under NHL contract to the Flames and will rejoin the Heat after participating in eight games with the Salmon Kings this season where he posted a record of 2-4-2 to go along with a goals against average of 3.06 and a 0.908 save percentage.

The 21-year-old will return to Abbotsford for his second stint with the Heat this campaign. Irving began the year in the AHL with Abbotsford before being re-assigned to Victoria on January 28th. In 30 games this year with the Heat he has recorded a 11-15-2 mark with a 0.909 save percentage, a 2.68 goals against average, and one shutout.

Irving was selected in the first round by the Calgary Flames (26th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The Salmon Kings' roster now sits at 23 players (14 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 1 goaltender).

The Salmon Kings is in Stockton tonight to begin a three-game set with the Thunder with contests to follow on Friday, March 5th, and Saturday, March 6th. Victoria returns home to host the National Conference leading Idaho Steelheads for a three-game set with matches on Wednesday, March 10th, Friday, March 12th, and Saturday, March 13th.
