
Trenton's Caruso Named ECHL Goaltender Of The Month For February

PRINCETON, N.J. - Dave Caruso of the Trenton Devils has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for February.
Caruso was 7-2-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of.942 to help the Devils improve to 24-23-9 overall. He ended the month with a career-best six-game win streak that began with a 5-3 win against Reading on Feb. 12 and allowed only one goal in five of his nine starts during the month.
The 27 year old is 14-15-2 on the season and is fourth in the league with 1,016 saves while posting a goals-against average of 3.06 and a save percentage of.910 in 34 games for Trenton. Caruso stopped 46 shots in a 7-5 win at Elmira on Feb. 14 and denied another 41 shots less than a week later during a 6-2 victory at Johnstown on Feb. 20.
Caruso began his ECHL career in 2006-07 and is 36-27-9 with a goals-against average of 2.89 and a save percentage of.909 in 73 regular-season games for Trenton and Gwinnett while going 1-2-0 with a goals-against average of 2.71 and a save percentage of.925 in three Kelly Cup Playoff games for Trenton.
The Queens, N.Y. native has spent time in the American Hockey League where he has a 9-19-0 record with a goals-against average of 3.45 and a save percentage of.887 in 33 regular-season games for Chicago and Lowell.
He played four seasons at The Ohio State University compiling a 52-32-9 record with a goals-against average of 2.07 and a save percentage of.919 in 96 appearances for the Buckeyes. Honored as team MVP his junior and senior seasons, Caruso was selected to the 2004 CCHA All-Tournament Team as a sophomore, leading the Buckeyes to victory in the Mason Cup Championship.
