Rays In The Community...

The Stingrays players and coaches, in association with the Stingrays Booster Club, will be making their annual visit to the MUSC Children's Hospital tomorrow at 2pm. While there, the team and booster club will be donating an air hockey table and various games for their Xbox 360 and Wii.

The Week That Was...

The Stingrays played three divisional games last week hoping to catch up to the division-leading Florida Everblades. The team finished the week 1-2-0.

On Tuesday, the Rays took on the Gwinnett Gladiators for the second time this season, but first at home. After winning 3-2 at Gwinnett, the team fell by the same score at home. For the first time this season, the Rays gave up a third period leading, with the Gladiators scoring three goals in the third period to jump ahead to the Stingrays to victory. Brad Farynuk and Trent Campbell scored for the Rays and Bobby Goepfert was in net.

On Friday, the team traveled to Charlotte to face the Checkers. Behind three power play goals, the Stingrays powered past Charlotte 5-1. Goepfert stopped 26 shots in the victory.

On Saturday, due to Augusta no longer being in the ECHL, the Rays played Charlotte again instead of the originally scheduled Gwinnett Gladiators. Hoping to remain undefeated against the Checkers this year, the Rays battled back from their two-goal deficit, but ultimately fell 3-2 after a third period goal by the Checkers. Michal Neuvirth stopped 33 shots in the loss that featured 110 penalty minutes and eight fighting majors.
