
Phoenix's Kowalski Named Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Craig
Kowalski of the Phoenix RoadRunners is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender
of the Week for Dec. 1-7.
Kowalski posted back-to-back wins against defending National Conference
champion to help the RoadRunners improve to 11-8-2.
He came on in relief with Phoenix trailing 3-1 on Dec. 3 and stopped all 22
shots as the RoadRunners came from behind for a 6-3 win. He then made 26
saves in a 4-1 win against the Wranglers to improve to 4-1-0 in his last
five games.
Kowalski is 8-6-1 with a goals-against average of 3.19 and a save
percentage of .915 in 15 games.
The 27 year old was voted to be the starting goaltender for the American
Conference in the ECHL All-Star Game and was 29-11-2 with two shutouts, a
goals-against average of 2.33 and a save percentage of .923 in 44 regular
season games for Gwinnett. He also played in the AHL where he was 2-1-0
with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of
.923 in four games for Syracuse.
Selected in the eighth round (235th overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes in
the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Kowalski played his first three seasons with the
Florida Everblades and was 54-25-10 with five shutouts, a goals-against
average of 2.72 and a save percentage of .914 in 91 regular season games.
He was 29-13-4 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.61 and a
save percentage of .918 in 46 regular season games in 2006-07 and was 10-6
with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of
.921 in the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the Everblades reached the American
Conference Finals.
