South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Stingrays hit the road this past week as they traveled up North to face Johnstown, Wheeling and Elmira. They finished the week undefeated in regulation with a 3-0-1 record over the four games.
On Wednesday, the Stingrays were in Johnstown for an early morning game. The Rays battled hard the entire game and, after being down 3-2 for the entire third period, Andrew Andricopoulos, in his Stingrays debut, scored the tying goal with just 35 seconds left in the third. Then Rob Drummond of the Chiefs scored the game-winning goal at 3:22 of overtime.
Friday marked the return of Matt W. Reid to the line-up as the Rays played the Wheeling Nailers. In his return, Reid netted both a short-handed and a power-play goal to lead the team to a 6-2 victory. Also scoring their first goals of the season were Scott Romfo and Tommy Maxwell.
The Rays returned to Johnstown on Saturday. After a scoreless first period and with the Chiefs leading 1-0 going into the third, the Stingrays scored three unanswered goals in the eventual 3-1 victory. Stephen Werner, with his second goal of the season, netted the game-winning goal.

ECHL Leaders:
Paul McIlveen and Pierre-Luc O'Brien lead the league in points with nine. Patrick McNeill and Cail MacLean are also in the top ten in the league with seven points and six points, respectively.
O'Brien leads the league in assists with nine, while McIlveen's seven assists places him third in the league. They are first and second, respectively, among rookies.
Nate Kiser and Grant McNeill lead the league in minor penalties with eleven and ten while Tommy Maxwell leads the league in major penalties with four. Kiser and G. McNeill also lead defenseman with their minor penalties.
Patrick McNeill's three power play goals ranks him fifth overall.
Kiser is first overall with a 1.000 shooting percentage from his goal on opening night.
Goalie Josh Johnson is 12th in the league with his 2.01 goals-against average. Johnson is 1-1-0 with a .913 save percentage as well.
Davis Parley is fifth in wins (3), fourth in saves (128) and fifth in minutes (242).
Stingrays occupy the top three spots for points among rookies with McIlveen and O'Brien leading the way with nine points each and P. McNeill following with seven. Travis Morin ranks 12th with his five points.
P. McNeill is also first among defenseman for points (7), goals (3) and power play goals (3).
The Stingrays are 6th in the power play, converting 22% of the time, and penalty kill, successful 88.7% of the time.
This Week:
The Stingrays return to home ice this Tuesday, Oct. 30th at 7:05 p.m. to battle the Charlotte Checkers. It's Trick-or-Treat with the Rays after the game on the concourse, so don't forget to wear your costume. It's also 2 for 1 hotdogs and $2 beers this Tuesday night. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN Radio 910 the Team beginning at 6:50 p.m. with Voice of the Rays, Josh Heller, and the Benito's Pre-game Show.
The Stingrays will be in Columbia on Halloween Night to take on the Inferno at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night's game can be heard live on the Real 1340 AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. and online at www.stingrayshockey.com.
The South Carolina Stingrays travel back to Columbia to take on the Inferno again at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, November 3rd. The Pre-game begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 910 the Team.
Upcoming Events:
The Stingrays will be playing kickball against employees from Berkeley Electric Cooperative this Thursday, Oct. 1 at 6:30pm at the 1st Annual Kickball Challenge! Come out to the BEC Field in Moncks Corner across from the Santee Cooper on R.C. Dennis Blvd. to meet the Stingrays. Admission is $2 with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Trick-or-Treat with the Stingrays following Tuesday night's game. The entire team will be on the concourse handing out candy, so don't forget to wear your costumes!
Former Stingray Peverley Recalled by Nashville
Forward Leads Admirals in Scoring
Nashville, TN- Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled center Rich Peverley from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Peverley leads Milwaukee in scoring with 11 points (2g-9a) in seven games, and also had a six-game scoring streak. The Guelph, Ont. native led the Admirals in scoring (30g-38a-68pts) and plus-minus rating (+9) last season. Originally signed as a free agent by Nashville on Jan. 17, 2007, Peverley appeared in 13 NHL games with Nashville last season and notched one assist.
In his 2007-08 NHL debut Saturday night, the former Stingray registered one shot in 7:02 of ice time in the Predators' 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers.
Peverley spent the 2004-05 season with South Carolina, totaling 30 goals and 28 assists for 58 points in 69 games.
