Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Slow and Steady: Gladiators forward Jeff Campbell notched his first goal of the season for the Gladiators in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Reading Royals. Campbell now has 9 points on the year off of a goal and 8 assists for the Gladiators and shares first in scoring in the ECHL.
Streaking Along: Jeff Campbell notched a goal in yesterday's 5-1 win over Reading. The marker extended his point scoring streak to four games as he shares first on the Gladiators for the longest point scoring streak on the Gladiators. Derek Nesbitt shares the top spot with Campbell with at least one point in four straight games as he collected a goal in yesterday's 5-1 win over Reading.
Go Ahead: The Gladiators took early leads in each of their two games last week and went on to post victories in each contest. Gwinnett has not trailed yet this season as they have scored first in all four games so far this season.
A Brick Wall: Gladiators netminder Craig Kowalski may not lead the ECHL in netminding statistics currently, but the Gladiators have given up the fewest goals so far this year through the first two weeks of the season. Despite missing the last two games, Vigilante currently leads the Gladiators in goals scored with four markers on the year. Vigilante should be available for the Manitoba Moose for their 8:05 p.m. start against Quad Cities on Wednesday.
From the "A": Chad Denny joins the Gladiators after being assigned to Gwinnett from AHL Chicago. A rookie this season, Denny has not appeared in a game yet this season with Chicago. Selected by the Thrashers in the second round, 49th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Denny collected 147 points on 47 goals and 100 assists in 215 career games for the Lewiston MAINEiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He finished 3rd in points for Lewiston with 65 (17g, 48a) last year while posting a combined +33.
