Idaho Steelheads News Release

A NEW RIVALRY HAS HATCHED

The Steelheads visited Utah for two-games over the weekend and it didn't take long for the Steelheads to feel the bite of former Steelheads player Scott Burt. Burt, who played for the Steelheads over seven seasons and who holds Idaho's record for most games played at 403, recorded four goals - two in each game - helping the Grizzlies beat the Steelheads 5-4 in overtime Friday and 4-3 in a shootout Saturday.

TRICK OR TREAT

The Steelheads hope to scare up some fun on Halloween night at Qwest Arena and treat fans to a win as the Grizzlies come to town for a solo contest. Might Idaho have a few tricks up its sleeve?

The game will mark Scott Burt's first at Qwest Arena in a Grizzlies' jersey. The veteran forward will be presented with his 2007 Kelly Cup Championship ring pre-game on the ice.

Halloween festivities will include $100 cash prizes for best sportiest, scariest and sexiest costumes, as well as treats for the little ones from mascot Blue.

SHOWING OFF IN THE SHOW

Former Steelheads goalie Dan Ellis recorded his first NHL shutout, stopping all 20 shots he faced, Thursday night (Oct. 25) in a 3-0 win over Atlanta for the Nashville Predators. He also earned the win in the next contest on Saturday, 4-3, over the Florida Panthers. Ellis is the only Steelheads player to have played in an NHL game in the same season as he played for the Steelheads. Ellis made his NHL debut with Dallas on Feb. 18, 2004 and made 25 saves in the Stars 4-3 win at Los Angeles. He was later named MVP of the Kelly Cup Playoffs when Idaho claimed its first ECHL championship.

LOOK WHO'S BACK

Cal Ingraham, Steelheads All-Time Scoring Leader (271 points), is returning to the team as Assistant Coach to Head Coach Derek Laxdal. Laxdal said he's thrilled to have someone with Cal's knowledge of the game and obvious skill to help him out behind the bench. Cal joins former Steelheads netminder Colin Zulianello who joined the club this season as the goaltender coach.
