Elmira Jackals News Release

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, captured just one of a possible four points this past weekend in a pair of games played at First Arena. Friday, they suffered their first loss of the season in dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to Johnstown before losing their first regulation contest of '07-'08 Sunday, 4-1 to South Carolina.

Overall: 2-1-0-1 (5 pts.) Last Week: 0-1-0-1 (1pt.) 3rd North Division/American Conference

Friday, Oct. 26th - vs. JOHNSTOWN (1-2 sol) Att: 3,967 (sellout) Shots: ELM 37-30 PP: 0/7 PK: 7/7

The Jackals dropped their first decision in three games while extending their points streak to three. RW PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT scored for a second straight contest and extended his point streak to three games, but was the only source of offense for Elmira. Johnstown tied the game with 6:45 left in regulation to set the stage for the first regular season overtime game in Jackals' history. Despite a 4-1 shots advantage in the sudden death period, the game was decided in a shootout (JHN 3 - Desrochers, Corbin, Imbeault ELM 1 - Ulanski).

Sunday, Oct. 28th - vs. SOUTH CAROLINA (1-4) Att: 3,378 Shots: SC 27-20 PP: 0/8 PK: 2/8

The Jackals were out shot for the first time this year in falling to the Stingrays. With Elmira trailing for the first time all season 1-0 entering the second period, RW CHAZ JOHNSON scored the first ECHL goal of his career at 3:46 to tie the game at 1-1. But the inability of the Jackals power play to get going cost them while the visitors took the lead for good on a man-advantage strike from D PATRICK O'NEILL midway through the second. Elmira was held to a season-low 20 shots, including 11 over the final 40 minutes.
