Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League and Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League, announced today they have received defenseman Gerard Miller on assignment from Hamilton.

Miller, 24, originally signed with the Cyclones back on July 31 and attended training camp with Hamilton in late September. Gerard made the Bulldogs roster and appeared in two of the first nine games.

Miller played last season with Flint (UHL) and finished fourth among defensemen in scoring with 57 points. He collected 13 goals during the season (nine on the power play, second-most in the league among rearguards) and 44 assists (third-most among blueliners) to account for those points. Gerard had eleven multiple point games during the season, including two goals against Elmira (which has joined the ECHL this season) on Dec. 16 and a four assist contest versus the Jackals on Jan. 5.

Noted for his offensive prowess, Miller had a breakout season in 2006-07-with more than half of his points (38) coming on the power play. The Cold Spring Harbor, NY native played two seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) with Eisbaren Berlin and tallied five goals and 16 assists in 61 games in Germany. Gerard played collegiately at the University of Vermont, where he earned three varsity letters and played more than 70 games.

The Cyclones play at Elmira on Wednesday (Oct. 31) at 7:05pm. That game can be heard on SuperTalk FM 96.5.
