Last week's Games

Wednesday vs. Reading (3-0 Loss)

Reading goaltender Jonathan Quick made 32 saves for his first professional win and was credited with a goal as the Royals shut out the Ice Pilots 3-0 at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Pilots came out strong in the first period and peppered Quick with 15 shots, but he kept them scoreless. Pensacola also did not take a penalty in the first period for the first time this season. Reading got on the board in the second as Ned Lukacevic beat Ice Pilots goaltender Mike Brodeur to make it 1-0. Chris Blight added a power play goal with 55 seconds left in the frame to give Reading a 2-0 lead after two periods. With the Ice Pilots pulling goaltender Brodeur for an extra attacker, a pass came from behind the Reading net to the blue line and the puck rolled all the way down the ice into the Ice Pilots net. Since no Reading player touched the puck, Quick was awarded a goal.

Friday vs. Reading (2-0 WIN)

Mike Brodeur made 28 saves and rookies Mathieu Roy and JC Sawyer scored power play goals as the Ice Pilots earned their first victory of the season, shutting out Reading 2-0 in front of a boisterous crowd at the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Pilots got their first lead of the season when Mathieu Roy netted his third goal of the season with help from JC Sawyer and A.J. MacLean. It was a power play tally at 14:01 of the first period for a 1-0 Pensacola lead. The two teams played a scoreless second and then JC Sawyer got a feed from Bryan McGregor and beat Reading goaltender Jonathan Quick from the point for a power play goal to make it 2-0 with 8:51 left in the game. Brodeur would do the rest as he blanked Reading for his first win as an Ice Pilot. The Ice Pilots finished the game 2 for 5 on the power play while the Royals went 0 for 5.

Sunday at Mississippi (4-3 SO Loss)

Brian McGregor scored his first two professional goals but Mississippi's Travis Lisabeth scored the lone goal in the sixth round of the shootout as the Sea Wolves defeated the Ice Pilots 4-3 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The Ice Pilots took a 1-0 lead at 16:30 of the first period as McGregor beat Mississippi goaltender Morgan Cey. Mark Rooneem evened the score 1:42 later. In the second period the Ice Pilots regained the lead at 2-1 as Mike Tuomi netted his first ECHL goal. However, Mississippi fought back and Travis Lisabeth beat Doug Groenestege and the Ryan Menei gave the Sea Wolves their first lead of the night. Pensacola rallied in the third period as McGregor netted his second of the night to even the score at three. Both teams would play a scoreless overtime and then in the shootout it took six rounds but Travis Lisabeth beat Groenestege for the game winner. Each team finished with a power play goal as the Ice Pilots went 1 for 3 and Mississippi finished 1 for 7.
