Stingrays Weekly: Stingrays Celebrate St. Patrick's Day and Military Appreciation Night This Weekend

The South Carolina Stingrays opened a six-game homestand this week against the Trenton Titans, Greenville Road Warriors and Cincinnati Cyclones for a record of 2-1-0-1. The week kicked off on Tuesday in a 4-2 win over the Titans. Forwards Joe Pereira, Daniel Koger, Tyler Shelast and defenseman Brett Flemming scored for the Stingrays. The Stingrays and Road Warriors clashed on Friday, with Greenville prevailing 3-1. The two teams met again Saturday evening. Forwards Trent Campbell and Billy Ryan scored and goaltender Billy Sauer made 43 saves, but the Road Warriors skated away with a 3-2 shootout victory. The weekend wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with the Stingrays earning a 3-1 triumph over the Cyclones. Forward Matt Scherer appeared in his 300th game, all with the Stingrays, and scored the game-winning goal.

Taking the Lead

The Stingrays are third in the South Division with 74 points and sixth overall in the Eastern Conference.

Forward Trent Campbell is tied for first in the ECHL with four shorthanded assists.

Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien is tied for third in the ECHL with a plus-minus rating of +21.

Goaltender Philipp Grubauer ranks third in the ECHL with a 2.22 goals-against average and 23 wins and stands fifth with 2,536 minutes played and a .918 save percentage.

Defenseman Johann Kroll is second in the ECHL and second among defensemen with a plus-minus rating of +22 and is tied for 16th among ECHL defensemen with 28 points (7g, 21a).

Defenseman Derek Keller is tied for third among league defensemen with two shorthanded assists.

Defenseman Zach Tarkir is first among ECHL defensemen with five game-winning goals and tied for 16th among bluliners with 28 points (10g, 18a).
