Utah's McIlveen Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Paul McIlveen of the Utah Grizzlies is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 5-11.

The 25-year-old forward scored three goals and added three assists for six points last week, helping the Grizzlies go 3-1-0 for the week.

McIlveen opened the week with an assist in a 3-2 loss against Ontario on Monday then scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in 3-2 overtime win over the Reign on Wednesday. After being held scoreless in a 4-1 win against Stockton on Friday, he ended the week with three points (2g-1a) in a 4-3 victory against the Thunder on Saturday.

A native of Waterloo, Ontario, McIlveen leads the Grizzlies with 28 goals and 60 points in 56 games this season. He is tied for third in the league with 11 power-play goals while his 241 shots rank third overall.

McIlveen has 178 points (72g-106a) in 233 career ECHL games with Utah, Cincinnati, Greenville, Elmira and South Carolina. He has also appeared in three career American Hockey League games with Norfolk and Binghamton.

On behalf of Paul McIlveen, a case of pucks will be donated to a Utah youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
