South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has made two separate deals sending Ty Morris, Jeff Legue and Dominic Soucy away in return for Darren Lynch and Scott Cameron. Morris was dealt in a deal involving three other teams that will land Darren Lynch with the Rays from Las Vegas and place Morris in Columbia through Las Vegas and Long Beach. Legue and Soucy were traded to the Dayton Bombers for veteran left winger Scott Cameron.

"We feel that we have made ourselves a better hockey team with these moves," commented Fitzsimmons. "It is always difficult to give up players that you have had for the majority of the year, but we are confident that we have acquired the right pieces to help in our playoff push."

The Stingrays expect to have both players in the lineup when they face the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Friday night in Florida.

Darren Lynch is a second year professional, who has spent both seasons with the Las Vegas Wranglers. As a rookie a year ago, Lynch had 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points for the Wranglers. He played five seasons of Junior Hockey in the WHL for Lethbridge and Vancouver. In 2002-03 with the Vancouver Giants, Lynch had 82 points on 29 goals and 53 assists. The right winger stands six feet tall and weighs 180lbs.

Scott Cameron comes to the Stingrays from the Dayton Bombers after scoring 60 points on 18 goals and 42 assists in 57 games this season. The native of Valley East, Ontario broke in as a rookie in the 2001-02 season with the Albany River Rats of the AHL. The New Jersey draft pick spent his first two full seasons with the River Rats before spending the majority of the next two seasons with the Dayton Bombers of the ECHL. Cameron played Junior Hockey in the OHL and had 80 points on 37 goals and 43 assists with the North Bay Centennials in 2000-01.

The Stingrays will continue a three game road trip with two games in Pensacola this Friday and Saturday night. The Rays will return home to host the Columbia Inferno on Sunday, March 19th at 3:00. Sunday is "Kids Day" with free tickets for kids, courtesy of Chick Fil A on Dorchester Rd. The Stanley Cup will be on hand at the game and March Madness continues with dollar parking and dollar beers as well as skate with the Rays after the game, presented by the Carolina Ice Palace.
