Salmon Kings add more young talent

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings announced today the signing of Michigan Tech University Centre Taggart Desmet.

Desmet, 23, played a combined 104 games over three seasons with the NCAA Division 1 Michigan Tech University Huskies. Before that, he spent three seasons with the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, and seven games with the Calgary Hitmen (WHL) in 2000-2001.

In his Freshman year with the Huskies, Desmet earned 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in 37 games. This season he tallied 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists). Overall, he has posted 21 goals and 36 assists for 57 points in his University career.

The 6-foot-1, 205-lb native of Strathmore, AB joins the Salmon Kings in his professional debut.

The Salmon Kings start a three game series versus the San Diego Gulls tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
