Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH- The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL announced today that they have traded Center Scott Cameron to South Carolina for forward Dominic Soucy and All Star Forward Jeff Legue, defenseman Tyson Teplitsky to Florida for defenseman Nick Harloff and defenseman Nathan Tennant to Bakersfield for financial considerations.
When asked why so many trades occurred today, Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam stated the following quotes: "Scott Cameron requested an opportunity to go and have a chance to play for a playoff team and out of great respect for Scott as a person and out of respect for what he has done for the Bombers throughout his time here, we granted his wish."
"Tyson Teplitsky had indicated that he was not going to be available to us or the ECHL next season because he plans on signing a contract in the AHL or working outside of hockey. So with that in mind we traded him to Florida because they were able to meet our needs as well by sending us a quality defenseman in return."
"We traded Tennant to Bakersfield because when we were out there two weeks ago their head Coach Marty Raymond really liked the way Nathan played against them. We wanted to give Nathan a chance to better his career so we accommodated Bakersfield's request and gave Nathan an opportunity to play for a playoff team this season."
Nick Harloff, (6'0" 181 lbs.) has played in 29 games between South Carolina and Florida this season. He has 8 points (2G, 6A) and 33 penalty minutes over that span. Harloff will not be available for the Bombers games this weekend at Wheeling and home vs. Trenton, he will join the team next week.
Jeff Legue and Dominic Soucy could add instant offense for the Bombers. Legue, (5'10" 165 lbs.) as previously mentioned, represented the Stingrays in the 2005-06 All Star game. He has played in 53 games, scoring 35 points (15 G, 20A) and has 40 penalty minutes. Soucy, (6'4" 225 lbs.) has played in a total of 42 games between Stockton and South Carolina, posting 11 points (2G, 9A) and 27 penalty minutes.
Another reason the Bombers might have sent Cameron to South Carolina could have been the fact that he was not available to be protected at season's end because he was a veteran player.
The Dayton Bombers continue their 15th Anniversary season at home this Saturday night March 18th at 7:00 pm at the EJ Nutter Center vs. the Trenton Titans. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or for more information call the Bombers office at 775-4747 or go to www.daytonbombers.com. The game can be heard on 980 (am) Homer the Sports Animal or on line at www.daytonbombers.com. Dayton Bombers Hockey, celebrating 15 years of fun.
