
Stingrays Power Past K-Wings 5-1

Kalamazoo, MI - Defenseman Tommy Cross scored two goals as the South Carolina Stingrays (5-7-0-1) defeated the Kalamazoo Wings (6-5-0-0) 5-1 at Wings Stadium Friday night.
Stingrays forward Matthew Pistilli opened the scoring at 2:48 of the first period lifting a shot over the glove of K-Wings goaltender Joe Cannata (L, 20 saves on 25 shots) from the top of the crease. Forward Shawn Weller recorded the lone assist. Cross put the Stingrays up 2-0 with an unassisted marker at 12:39.
K-Wings forward Darren Archibald pulled the game within one on the power play at 10:09 of the second period beating Stingrays netminder Ryan Zapolski (W, 23 saves on 24 shots) under the blocker from the bottom of the left-wing circle.
Forward Hunter Bishop reclaimed a two-goal lead of the Stingrays on the power play at 7:58 of the third period from defenseman Kevin Quick and forward Alden Hirschfeld. Seconds later, forward Dylan Clarke buried his second goal of the season from forward Tyler McNeely and Quick at 8:16. Cross completed the game scoring with his second tally of the night on the man advantage at 11:55 with help from McNeely and defenseman Ryan Turek. The Stingrays ended the night 2-for-7 on the power play while the K-Wings went 1-for-5.
The Stingrays continue a season-long six-game road trip tomorrow Saturday, November 10 against the Evansville IceMen in Evansville, IN at 7:15 p.m. at Ford Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday, November 16 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. for Salute to Heroes Night with local EMS, fire and police departments.
