November 9, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors attempted to put together a comeback but their efforts were not good enough overcome the Cyclones on Friday night.
Cincinnati came out strong in the first period applying constant pressure in the Road Warriors zone. Despite a penalty 19 seconds in, the Cyclones were able to kill it off and put 15 shots on net in the period. The only goal that was scored in the period came off the stick of Dan Eves with assists going to Michael Pelech and Mathieu Aubin. Eves roofed a shot past Nathan Lieuwen on his glove side.
The second period was more balanced as the Road Warriors outshot the Cyclones 9-6 but surrendered another goal. Josh Shalla took advantage of a Scott Pitt hooking penalty and scored his first goal of his career on the powerplay. Brian Foster remained stellar in the period and continued to shut the Road Warriors out.
The third period brought about more penalties and the Road Warriors managed to convert from Kenndal McArdle who jammed in a rebound opportunity past Foster. In the closing minutes Greenville pulled Lieuwen in hopes to tie the game. The team was not able to convert as Foster continued to keep the Greenville offense at bay. Foster made 23 saves while facing 24 shots and took the win moving to 7-0-2. Lieuwen took the loss stopping his win streak at 4 and moved to 4-3-0.
The Road Warriors will look for revenge tomorrow night against the Cyclones with a 7 p.m. game. The first 1,500 fans 12 and under will receive an inflatable Warrior Sword presented by Rock101, 93.3 The Planet and B93.7.
